BEI Supports Project Mobility’s Hops for Hope 5K
The BEI Family of Companies, BEI Properties, Batavia Enterprises Real Estate, In Towne Storage and Miscella Real Estate was proud to support Project Mobility’s Hops for Hope 5K as a sponsor and as part of the BEI Summer Health and Wellness initiative six of the staff participated on Saturday, May 18th. The race took place in downtown St. Charles Mt. St. Mary’s Park and traveled into Geneva for a tour of Wheeler Park. This fun 5K includes the local craft breweries that sample their beer on the trail if runners desired and ended with an award ceremony with live music, food, awards and local breweries.
The money raised from this event supports Project Mobility’s mission is to provide adaptive bikes to those in need to create a positive recreational and cycling opportunities to improve the quality of life for children, adults and wounded soldiers with emotional and physical challenges. The average adaptive bike costs $4,000 which makes it hard for families to be able to afford these much-needed bikes.
Project Mobility was founded by Hal Honeyman has been raising funds and giving away adaptive bikes to those in need since 2009. In 2013 Project Mobility started asking for families in need to share their stories and why they would be good candidates for these bikes. The programming continues to grow for Project Mobility as they set their goals high to help as many people as they can!
