How Much Office Space Do You Need?

Are you in the process of searching for office space? Is your business growing? Looking to get your own space and out of a co-working space or your home office?

There are many questions that arise when starting your search.

The first question is: How much space do I need?

Angela Skurka, Commercial Broker here at BEI Properties has come up with a helpful guide below!

High Density Space:

  • 80-150 sqft per employee
  • Mix of open desk space or cubes and private offices

Average Density Space:

  • 150-250 sqft per employee
  • Mix of open desk space or cubes and private offices

Spacious Office Space:

  • 250-500 sqft per employee
  • Majority of space consists of large private offices

 

How do you calculate:

To estimate home much space you will need multiply your employee headcount by the number of square feet per employee.

SF Needed = Number of Employees x Desired SF/Employee

This is a great place to start!

Don’t forget to leave room for growth! It’s suggested to add 20% for future growth.
