Water Street Patio Project to enhance Downtown Batavia until September

COVID has made business challenging and as restrictions are lifted, more socially distanced ways of life create a new normal and understanding of protection and how businesses can safely operate.

Most Batavia businesses have been affected but restaurants and retail have felt the greatest impact. Batavia business leaders have come together to formulate a way to help enhance the downtown draw and outdoor dining experience. The Water Street Patio project was created to provide a relaxing environment.  Located at the corner of Wilson Road and Water Street next to the Batavia Plaza, dining tables and umbrellas in addition to café string lights decorate the street to enhance the Downtown Batavia outdoor cityscape.

Water Street is shut down at the corner of Wilson, midway to First Street next to the Batavia Plaza which is home to; Enticing Cuisine, Prairie Path Cycles, Riverside Pizza, Daddio’s Diner, Coin Laundry, Great Clips, East China Inn, Bulldog Nutrition, Crown Liquors and Walgreens. This space provides additional seating for local restaurants to utilize, the community to use as a meeting spot and bikers to take a break from their ride. This wonderful space will be available for the public to use through September and is available for all of the downtown restaurants and all of the citizens to take advantage of.

An amazing group of local businesses including Advanced Disposal, Barco Products, Batavia Enterprises Companies, City of Batavia and Moonscape Landscape Illumination both sponsored and assisted in facilitating the efforts for the Water Street Patio project.

Barco Products was honored to donate new outdoor dining outdoor furniture to assist local restaurants get back on their feet.

“Barco Products is a local business with local employees, and we want to help restore downtown Batavia and support local Illinois bars and restaurants to get up and running.” said Jeff Matter. “We want to assist hard-pressed businesses in the hospitality sector and take advantage of the Restore Illinois Plan that allows these businesses to offer outdoor seating for customers.”
